Right Way Signs of Chicago had the pleasure of working on this large sign painting and mural project right outside the Fulton Market in Chicago. The project took started in January of 2015 with Right Way painting the yellow background color. From there, we worked with their designer out of New York who took this design inspiration from the auto mechanic shops and their exterior sign designs, many of which was freestyle sign painting and hand lettering. Besides the hand lettering portion of this project, there was a photo of “Lou” that we needed to paint and make it look as real and authentic as possible. Our resident mural artist Chester did a remarkable job painting his photo at massive scale.

One of our largest project to date, Right Way Signs of Chicago was awarded the contract for all interior and exterior signage at Goose Island Brewery’s new brewery tour experience at 1800 W. Fulton. The project included both exterior and interior signage focusing mainly on sign painting and custom mural work. The exterior work most notably focuses on big logo imagery, typography, reclaimed wood and metal, pulling in the feel of an old warehouse with the painting work having a “distressed” feel as if it was painted over 50 years ago. The Tap Room, where the tour begins and ends, has many different sign types. The “Lake Michigan” wall is made of reclaimed wood and has custom illustrations that the Right Way team hand painted in detail.

Our goal was to take their design and help make it as authentic as possible, giving it a human touch from a sign painter just like you would have seen if you were alive to see the real thing back in the early 1900s. Ches Perry, Right Way’s lead sign painter, took two days to work on this project.
