Artwork Requirements

Artwork Requirements for the best possible project

Our background is in marketing, strategy, graphic design, commercial art and creative services. We have sign installation and removal services; sign storage; light-bulb replacement services and more.

File formats we prefer to work with are Adobe Illustrator (AI) and Encapsulated PostScript (EPS). These files types allow us to size your artwork to whatever sizes needed without loosing resolution. We can work with other files formats such as Adobe Photoshop, Adobe InDesign, PDF, JPEG and TIFF, but there could be an additional fee if we need to redraw or convert the file in order for it to looks its best.

We accept the following file types:

If matching a specific color is important to you, we’ll need something to reference in order to make sure we match it as accurately as possible. If we’re mixing paint we like to use the Pantone system to match colors, though if you can provide a One Shot, Sherwin Williams or Benjamin Moore paint color we can use those paints or mix a custom color to match.

Any file intended to be cut out of vinyl MUST be vector. Submitting a JPG, PNG, GIF, TIFF, PSD, or any other raster image format will not be useable. If you don’t have your file in a vector format, we can re-create your artwork for an additional fee.

Cleaning up duplicate or intersecting paths in your file is also important as the vinyl plotter will read and cut every vector path in your file, even the ones you can’t see. If what you just read doesn’t make sense, don’t worry, we can clean up your files for you.

If your file is intended to be printed, always save as CMYK.

Any raster images should be saved at 300 DPI for the highest quality print.

If your image is going to be used on a banner or sign that will only be seen from a distance, resolution isn’t as much of a concern, use your best judgement in these cases.

300 DPI Minimum

Each project is different, so make sure you or your designer speak with our art department first before submitting files.

The Do's

Converting Text

Convert all text to outlines prior to saving file.

Pantone/PMS Colors

Make sure you send your specific colors to our art department when sending your files. If we are printing or painitng these colors, we are happy to provide samples colors for approval before begin your project.

The Don'ts

Try To Convert Yourself

We have had files submitted in the past that were simple an image file (JPEG) saved as an AI or EPS format. This does not work. If you need help with preparing the right files, ask a trained graphic designer or for a fee, we can help as well.

Delays in sending us the proper artwork or approving the sign proofs can significantly delay your project. Our estimated install or completion date is based on having approval within 1-2 business days.
