The Sign Painter: A Journey From Newfoundland, Canada to Chicago, USA
In 1970, Ches Perry became a sign painter by accident. His journey from a small town in Newfoundland, Canada to Chicago, Illinois was to learn how to become a commercial artist (known now as Graphic Designer), but quickly learned that his school was going to teach much more than how to do layout and design, they were going to teach sign painting. 60 years ago, sign shops, filled with dozens of sign painters, were responsible for for not only painting sign and billboard advertisements, but they were the artists behind the entire design, something that is rare today. Hear the story of Ches Perry and his love for the art and craft of sign painting.
